Domestic Abuse Program (Project S.A.R.A.H.)

The JFCS Domestic Abuse Program, Project S.A.R.A.H. (Stop Abusive Relationships at Home), provides multi-faceted services which include counseling, support groups, resource information, and other forms of assistance to support individuals who are victims of domestic abuse and their families.  We are also strong supporters of preventative education and other forms of community outreach.  One of the goals of this program is to raise awareness of the fact that domestic abuse occurs in all communities, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or socio-economic status.

Project S.A.R.A.H. is funded by the United Way of Camden County. 

Anyone who feels they need services should call 856-424-1333 and ask for "Sarah".  All calls are strictly confidential.  JFCS is dedicated to providing services to anyone in need, regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or ability to pay.

Counseling

Project S.A.R.A.H. provides counseling for victims of domestic abuse.  Counseling for domestic abuse victims is confidential and discreet.  We do not provide counseling for perpetrators. 

Preventative Education and Community Outreach

Building Healthy Relationships:  Prevention of teen dating abuse is provided to area public schools, synagogues, and parent organizations to promote healthy friendships and dating relationships and to raise awareness of the dangers of abusive teen relationships.   Click here to learn more.

Cooper University Against Domestic Abuse (CADA):  Project S.A.R.A.H., along with other community organizations, provides training sessions to Cooper University Hospital staff on domestic abuse in the suburbs and within the adolescent population.

Community Seminars:  Project S.A.R.A.H. hosts occasional community seminars, such as Saving Beauty from the Beast, speaking to local women's groups within the Jewish community, and speaking to the Tri-County Board of Rabbis.

• JFCS, S.C.O.P.E., and the Zone PTA of Cherry Hill joined forces to bring Vicky Crompton, author of Saving Beauty from the Beast, to our community in the spring of 2009.  Ms. Crompton presented to students at both Cherry Hill East and Cherry Hill West; parents and educators at the Cherry Hill library; and social workers, school counselors, and educators at JFCS.
