Touching People's Lives
JFCS is touching people's lives daily. Here are some of their stories.
"My JFCS homemaker leaves no task undone, even if I'm the last client on her schedule. Her love and caring go beyond her duties and demonstrate the depth of her devotion. She even sent me a beautiful bouquet because she knew I was feeling low."
- Sallie, Senior Services client
"I was extremely sad when my wife died. First I joined the Widows/Widowers Support Group, and then the New Beginnings Group, which opened my eyes and made me realize I wanted to start living again. I just moved in with a wonderful woman. I feel re-born!"
- Cal, Support Group participant
"My volunteer Meals-on-Wheels driver read from the Torah in honor of my 86th birthday during my Aliyah. She has become like a granddaughter to me, and praying on the bimah together is a memory I will carry to my grave."
- Sol, client
"Since I lost my job, our family lives from day to day and life is a constant struggle. Thanks to the cash assistance and holiday gift cards provided by JFCS, the holidays were a lot brighter for my three young children."
- Family Assistance client
"My son is using drugs again. I decided to go to the peer support group at JFCS. I talked. They listened. They understood. The situation didn't change, but now I felt that I could cope."
- Addictions Support Group participant
"Our son is doing so much better in school since he has received counseling services from you. He used to be depressed and didn't want to participate in any family activities. Now he's the first one to ask to play a game! Thank goodness for your help."
- Marcy, parent of a Counseling client
"Thank you for the diapers and all the food you give us that helps us out with our food bill. JFCS is truly there for those in need and sometimes we forget to say thank you. This has been a very difficult year for our family, as my husband lost his job. I don't know where we would be without you."
- Catie, client
"I learned so much at your mortgage seminar. I was in serious danger of losing my home, and this taught me to seek out ways to try to avoid foreclosure. Thanks for providing this valuable service to the community."
