The Cancer Connection will provide programming for men, women and children in our community who have been diagnosed with all types of cancer. Services offered through this program will include peer support, education, counseling, care coordination, support groups, transportation, and volunteer supports. Mentor training, based on the Yad b'Yad model, will provide training for peer support groups. Buddies will be assigned by matching a trained volunteer survivor with a newly diagnosed individual. Training will be offered for individuals who are cancer survivors and at least 18 months past diagnosis. The Cancer Connection will also offer educational programs, including genetic testing, nutritional workshops and others. Related JFCS programs, such as Samaritan Hospice partnerships and bereavement groups are available if needed.

The podcast was produced from a panel discussion hosted by JFCS on May 8, 2007, at the Katz Jewish Community Center, entitled Women and Ovarian Cancer: What You Need to Know Now!, presented by the new JFCS Cancer Connection Program in conjunction with the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.
